Kendal Nystedt
Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Kendal (she/her) came of political consciousness while the federal government was militarizing the Tucson sector of the U.S.-Mexico border and Arizona was targeting its own Latine and immigrant communities at the polls, in institutions of higher education, at public benefits offices, workplaces, jails, and on the streets. As a result, she is committed to serving the immigrant-led movement to build power. Kendal is an alumna of NYU Law, where she was a Root-Tilden-Kern scholar, as well as the inaugural fellowship class of the Immigrant Justice Corps. She spent the past decade at Make the Road New York, where she represented immigrants in a wide-variety of affirmative and defensive matters while also utilizing participatory policy, popular education, impact litigation, media, and base-building tools. Kendal is also an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Law with the Immigrant Rights Clinic at NYU Law and is thrilled to be joining UnLocal!
