Dear Community,
I hope this message finds you well, and that you are taking care of yourselves and your loved ones during these challenging times following the election. I know many of us are feeling the weight of uncertainty, but together, we will continue to face the journey ahead. At Unlocal, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fighting for the rights of all immigrants, including those in immigration detention. It is our responsibility to challenge harmful narratives that divide us into “good” vs. “bad” immigrants.
As we prepare for our 3rd annual holiday letter-writing circle to support our community members in detention, we would love for you to join us in this meaningful effort. Our letter-writing event will take place on December 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at UnLocal’s office. In addition to the letter-writing event, we will also be providing a presentation on how to best support a loved one who has been detained. The event flyer is attached.
In addition to the letters, we are collecting monetary donations for commissary to send along with the holiday cards. Our goal is to send a $25 money order to individuals in detention, and your generosity will go a long way in making this possible. If you’re able, please consider donating and/or RSVP through this Givebutter page.
Your solidarity will help remind those in detention that they are not forgotten.
