Join multigenerational printmaking collective Mobile Print Power (MPP) for a drop-in silkscreen printing workshop at UnLocal. Participants will learn about creating socially engaged art and participatory design through printmaking, and will make a screenprint to take home.
This workshop is open to all ages. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Translators in Spanish and French will be present.
Mobile Print Power is a multigenerational collective that started as a weekly printmaking and political education workshop in Corona, Queens, in 2013. Mobile Print Power uses their methodology for participatory design in public space and a pair of portable silkscreen printmaking carts to engage communities and explore social and cultural situations. Mobile Print Power co-creates books, prints, and public sculptures with their communities. Each project reflects their commitment to social change and belief in the value of shared artistic production.
