UnLocal values education as a tool for advocacy and strives to empower immigrant communities by connecting them with key resources.

We prioritize mutual education as a learning tool to collaborate with our partners and community members to create accessible presentations, webinars, clinics, and events.

We intend to destigmatize any misconceptions of immigration law and the socio-political narrative that accompanies it.

What We Offer

Student Resource Hub

The Student Resource Hub is a monthly newsletter created for students, youth, families, and educators to share resources across our networks. This newsletter includes scholarship and internship opportunities, New York State Dream Act updates, skill development programs, and educational events offered by UnLocal and our partners.

Partner Call

UnLocal hosts a monthly ZOOM Partner Calls for educators, school staff, non-profit professionals, and service providers. UnLocal presents relevant federal and state immigration updates, and NYC social service changes. These calls provide a space for our partners to directly forward any questions from their respective communities and learn about UnLocal’s upcoming programming.

Programs

Community and Connection Series

The Community and Connections Series (CCS) is a project that supports undocumented youth and community members who are interested in network building, connecting with resources for navigating career paths, skill based educational opportunities, and/or higher education.

The CCS consists of skill building activities to support participants’ educational journeys and career aspirations. Our programming includes art exploration, shared meals, professional development, and gatherings. This series serves as a powerful tool for networking and a space to learn from people who share similar immigration experiences.

The CCS is open to all undocumented youth, working professionals, high school students, college students, and the larger UnLocal community. Events are announced on our socials and calendar

Community Closet

The Community Closet is an UnLocal initiative created to offer additional support to our clients and community members. We value the humanity and care of all individuals who receive these resources.

The Community Closet is open year round and specifically offers seasonal items during the following months:

August/September: Back-to-School Education Supplies
November/December: Coats and Warm Winter Clothing
February: Gender Affirming Care Articles

Community Markets

Our UnLocal Community Markets and host food vendors, small businesses, galleries, and communities who need physical space to share their creations. UnLocal creates space for our vendor community to highlight the importance of food and culture as they create a source of happiness and preservation for the communities they serve. Markets take place about 2-3 times a year, hosted in the UnLocal office and/or in our partner spaces. Opportunities to participate will be announced via social media. There is no fee to participate in our markets or festivals.
